I am honored to be considered for President-Elect of the Texas Dermatology Professional Association. As a dermatology physician assistant with eleven years of clinical experience, I have been thoroughly committed to advancing our profession through patient care and professional service. I have actively served TXDPA since its establishment, serving as a Director-at-Large for the past two years and participating in our growth, including attending our inaugural conference in 2024 and our second annual meeting in 2025.
My devotion to leadership and education extends nationally through nine years of service with the Society of Dermatology Physician Associates, where I have contributed to the CME Committee as both Vice-Chair and Chair. I was recently nominated to serve as a Director-at-Large, beginning this July, further reinforcing my dedication to advancing dermatology education and professional development.
Attending the TXDPA inaugural Leadership Summit earlier this year, strengthened my passion for shaping the future of our organization. We discussed several key initiatives, including plans to enhance member engagement, the creation of a governance and advocacy committee, the development of a structured mentorship program, and extending opportunities to physician associates interested in speaking or publishing, among many other ideas. As President-Elect, I am dedicated to advancing these initiatives and ensuring they are effectively instituted. A structured mentorship program within TXDPA would establish a purposeful pathway to support early-career dermatology clinicians while enhancing engagement across all career stages. With my experience in both clinical practice, leadership, and the development of medical education for dermatology PAs, I understand the importance of guided professional development. I would assist in creating a mentorship network that pairs experienced clinicians with newer members based on shared interests, practice settings, and career ambitions. This program would include defined objectives, regular check-ins, and opportunities for one-on-one and group mentorship, as well as involvement in TXDPA events and educational programming. By cultivating these relationships, we can promote clinical excellence, leadership development, and member retention within our organization. Strengthening our regional societies is fundamental to ensuring TXDPA remains accessible, pertinent, and receptive to members across the state. Texas is spatially vast, and local engagement is necessary to building a connected community. I aim to support the advancement of regional networks by empowering the societies local leaders, assisting with regional educational events, and creating communication channels between regional groups and state leadership. By aligning regional initiatives with TXDPA’s general mission, we can cultivate stronger participation, encourage leadership at all levels, and create a more cohesive and engaged membership. The development of a governance and advocacy committee is a crucial step in ensuring our profession is effectively represented at both the state and national levels. As healthcare policy continues to evolve, it is necessary that dermatology professionals have a clear and coherent voice in legislative discussions. I would strive to institute a dedicated committee focused on monitoring pertinent policy changes, educating our members on key issues, and partnering with national organizations to advocate for our profession and our patients. This committee would also provide opportunities for member involvement in advocacy efforts, helping to build a culture of awareness and engagement within TXDPA. I am dedicated to building on the established groundwork of TXDPA by advancing education, connection, and advocacy for all members. It would be a privilege to serve in this role and help navigate our organization into its next phase of growth. Kristine Kucera, MPAS, DHS, PA-C
It’s an honor to be considered for President-Elect of the Texas Dermatology Professionals Association. With 30 years of clinical experience, previous leadership at the national level, and the recent honor of receiving the Joe Monroe Lifetime Achievement Award in Dermatology, my dedication to our field has never been stronger. I am eager to leverage this experience to help our association grow, innovate, and thrive. My platform focuses on elevating clinical excellence through evidence-based education and mentorship while unifying our diverse voices to ensure every member—across academia, private practice, and research—feels heard and empowered. By driving strategic growth through modern technology and advocacy, I am committed to positioning our members as leaders in an evolving healthcare landscape. I am deeply invested in this community and would be privileged to bring my energy, seasoned leadership, and collaborative spirit to this role. Together, we can build a more resilient and inclusive future for Physician Associates and Nurse Practitioners in Dermatology. Vice President Candidate:Cynthia Trickett, MPAS, PA-C
It is both an honor and a full-circle moment for me to submit my candidacy for Vice President of TXDPA. As a founding member of this organization, I have had the privilege of witnessing—and contributing to—its growth from the very beginning. Serving previously as Vice President was one of the most meaningful leadership experiences of my career, and it deepened my commitment to the mission, momentum, and future of TXDPA. At my core, I am deeply passionate about the education and advancement of Physician Associates. I believe that when we invest in high-quality education—whether through mentorship, clinical teaching, or professional development—we elevate not only individual clinicians, but the entire profession. Throughout my career, I have remained committed to teaching, precepting, and creating opportunities for the next generation of PAs to thrive both in and out of the clinic. I am especially committed to developing early-career PAs as the future leaders of TXDPA. This includes creating pathways for involvement beyond clinical practice—opening doors to publishing, speaking, and leadership opportunities that build confidence, credibility, and our professional voice. By intentionally mentoring and elevating emerging PAs, we not only strengthen individual careers, but ensure a vibrant, sustainable future for our organization. Advocacy is another pillar of my platform. Our profession continues to evolve, and it is critical that we have strong, informed, and proactive voices at the table. I am dedicated to ensuring that TXDPA remains a powerful advocate for PAs across Texas—protecting our scope, expanding opportunities, and strengthening our role in patient care. In addition, I bring a proven track record of leadership and collaboration. I believe in leading with both vision and approachability—building bridges between clinicians, educators, and industry partners. Expanding the footprint of TXDPA is a priority for me. This means increasing engagement among practicing PAs, fostering meaningful connections with industry, and positioning TXDPA as a central, unifying force within our professional community. Most importantly, I care deeply about people. I believe organizations are strongest when their members feel seen, supported, and inspired. My goal is to help cultivate a TXDPA that not only represents its members—but energizes them. If elected, I will bring experience, energy, and an unwavering commitment to the continued growth and impact of TXDPA. I would be honored to serve. Since joining TXDPA in 2023 and serving as Director-at-Large, I have been actively engaged in meetings, conferences, and collaborative efforts with leadership and industry partners to help secure educational grants. Building on the strong foundation already in place, I am eager to continue this momentum and contribute to TXDPA’s next phase of growth and member impact. In addition to my clinical work, I bring extensive leadership experience through organizations such as the Junior League of Houston, the Houston Rodeo Horticulture Committee, and Dress for Success Houston. These roles have strengthened my skills in program development, collaboration, and member engagement, and have reinforced my belief that mentorship and inclusivity are essential to a thriving professional organization. If re-elected, my focus will remain on the following priorities:

What excites me most about our field is the progress we are witnessing every day. New treatments are transforming patient outcomes, and PAs and NPs are playing an essential role—not only in the clinic, but also in research, development, and education around emerging therapies. Our voices matter in shaping the future of medicine, and I am passionate about protecting our autonomy and professional freedoms so that we can continue to deliver excellent care while expanding our impact. If appointed to the board, I will work to ensure that PAs and NPs are able to practice at the top of our training, while also creating new opportunities for professional growth. Preserving our autonomy and strengthening our collective voice are priorities I believe are essential for the future of our profession. Bryson O'Neil, MPAS, PA-C
